TDRHism is a variant of File:PCB-LibCon.png Liberal Conservatism and the de-facto ideology of ThatDudeRightHere. It is economically center-right, File:Civnat.png Civic Nationalist, slightly statist, slightly Confessionalist with a bit of File:Atheism.png secularism, and culturally center-right (with a bit of progressivism). It seeks to establish European-style File:Cdem.png Christian Democracy and File:Onenatcon.png One-Nation Conservatism in the United States.
Although following the File:Chilib.png Chicagoan school of economics and somewhat of the File:3way.png Third Way, TDRHism doesn't refer to himself as a File:Neoliberal-icon.png Neoliberal, instead he prefers to stick more with File:Clib.png Classical Liberals.
Beliefs
TDRHism believes in what most Americans would call "compassionate conservatism", meaning that he's a more moderate conservative, similar to a File:Rockrep.png Rockefeller Republican. He's slightly patriotic, leaning more towards File:Civnat.png civic nationalism. He believes in a mostly free-market economy with slight regulations in order to prevent bad stuff from happening in the economy, an example would be the exploitation of workers. He believes in a mix of File:Chilib.png Chicagoan economics and File:Keynes.png Keynesian, meaning he is somewhat of a File:NuKeynesPix.png Neo-Keynesian.
Philosophical Beliefs
TDRHism is, philosophically a File:PCB-LibCon.png Liberal Conservative. He believes that while humans are naturally tribalistic and hierarchal, are more rational than emotional, and utopian ideologies never worked in practice, he also believes in some more liberal policies such as the enlightenment.
He also follows File:Petersonism.png Petersonism, as he believes that humans have free will and should focus on improving themselves before they blame others.
Economic Views
Overview
TDRHism believes in a mixture of File:Chilib.png Chicagoan economics and File:Keynes.png Keynesianism, thus creating what is called File:Soccap.png Social Capitalism. He believes in a mainly free-market economy with some regulations in it, so that both workers and consumers will be protected.
He is, despite being somewhat regulationist and interventionist, not a File:Socialism.png socialist, as he's very skeptical of socialism and its variants, seeing that most versions of it were massive failures every time they were attempted. However, he doesn't hate File:Marketsoc.png market socialism, believing that co-operatives are useful for the economy.
Fiscal Policy
TDRHism believes that most government funds should be spent on welfare programs. These include things like healthcare, housing, education, and infrastructure. He also believes that a centralized bank should exist and private banks can exist as well, even though they would be subject to regulations. However, he believes that governments shouldn't spend outside of their means, with budget and debt being kept lower than 60% of the national GDP.
On taxes, he believes in a mixture of flat and progressive. This is because although he wants taxes to go up for how wealthy you are, he also wants to divide it into groups, all of which will be taxed the same. The groups are:
- Very poor (will be offered the most tax breaks, and will receive the most benefits from taxes)
- Poor (will be offered tax breaks a lot and will be receiving a lof of benefits, but not as much as the people on the very poor classification)
- Middle class (in between poor and rich, and will be taxed slightly more than poor and slightly less than rich)
- Rich (will be taxed more than middle class but not as much as very rich)
- Very rich (will be taxed the most)
As for other taxes other than an income tax, his system will have:
- Sales tax (abolished for necessities, like food, but will be for other things, and will be higher for luxury goods)
- Corporate tax (Rebated for green innovation companies)
- Land value tax (not high emphasis on it)
- Land use tax (also not a very high emphasis on it)
- Capital gains tax
- Carbon tax
- Digital services tax
- Import tax
- Recreational substances tax (for alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other recreational drugs)
- Financial services tax (a small 0.1-0.5% charge on every trade of financial assets)
- Currecny transaction tax
Corporate tax evasion would also be highly illegal on his system, with companies being forced to pay tax on the profits they gain, or else they lose their business licenses. Legal firms that assist in coprorate tax avoidance will also be illegal and they will suffer harsh penalties.
Banking
TDRHism, like File:Arctoism Icon.png Arctoism, believes in the independence of the central bank and wants to keep inflation levels below 5% as much as possible. He rejects money creation just for funding fiscal expenditure, but in times of recession and severe economic deflation, he supports quantitative easing of money creation.
Private banks will be allowed to exist, albeit with some regulations, such as all trades of financial securities being subject to the financial services tax and all short term currency exchange will also be subject to the currency transaction tax.
He supports crypto-currency such as Bitcoin, and supports plans to move on from physical currency, or fiat money, to a purely digital currency. This is because he feels that digital transactions are much easier to trace than those involving fiat money, and thus it will be easier for police to catch tax evaders, speculators, drug dealers, and various other criminals.
Public or Private Ownership?
TDRHism's economic model is a File:Soccap.png social capitalist one, and is thus a mixed capitalist one. He believes that natural monopolies should be state-owned and run without any concern for profit. Instead of politicians running these, technical experts and specialists will run them. These services in question include:
- Electricity
- Water and sanitation systems
- Most public transportation systems (ex. bus systems and railways)
- Mail services
- Health services
- Certain TV channels, such as some news outlets
- Government-run software and algorithms
However, he believes that the larger the state is, the harder it will be to regulate those. He is also aware of competition and private enterprise, thus for large states, he will make sure that the state takes care to maintain the ease of doing business and red tape laws and wasteful bureaucracy will be cut to the bare minimum.
Welfare
Children and People with Disabilities
TDRHism supports something similar to File:Cball-Poland.png Poland's 500+ program, or a universal child benefit. This is because he believes that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed as well as the system is useful for combatting the low birthrates in most western nations.
As for people with disabilities, they will receive the most welfare benefits of his economic system, along with the very poor.
Unemployment
For the unemployed, he supports the File:Cball-Denmark.png Danish A-Kasse system, also known as flexicurity, where a worker voluntarily joins a trade union managed fund for a year while they are working, and then receives 90% of their previous income for a maximum of two years when they are unemployed, so long as they are actively looking for a job or gaining employable skills.
The reason why he thinks this is a good system is because it promotes personal responsibility, gives the worker and their family more financial security, and allows employers to hire and fire workers easily, which creates low levels of unemployment.
For anyone who has not previously enrolled in a fund yet, he supports what is called a subsistence level supplementary income benefit, also known as a Revenu de solidarité active (RSA), which is currently implemented in File:Cball-France.png France. This is a welfare benefit aimed for the unemployed to return to work. It also depends on claimants that are looking for work as well, and is gradually reduced as income from work increases. This is to prevent any claimants from falling into the benefit trap. He believes that those who are able to work but also refuse should be denied welfare from the state until they show that they are ready to work. This is due to the belief that personal prosperity also comes from the want of a person to improve themselves and "stand up straight with their shoulders back". Also, those who are heavy drinkers, drug addicts, heavy smokers or morbidly obese will be denied welfare until they show personal initiative to improve their own situation.
Pensions
For workplace pensions, he believes that it would be much simpler if the employer contribution was removed, with companies paying more taxes and with the proceeds going towards state contribution to retirement benefits.
Trade Unions
He supports collective social bargaining, with empolyment advertising agencies by law requiring to red-list companies that do not pay unions the rates of pay. This is because he believes that it's the most effective way of ensuring things like fair wages across the economy as well as making businesses more innovative as they will be unable to to undercut competitors by simply lowering wages.
Unions will manage the social funds, making membership in a union compulsory if the person wants to sign onto a fund. The right for a person to join a union will be required by law. They protect the employees from being abused, and they will be responsible for making and enforcing employment laws.
However, this still requires unions to co-operate with the state and also be politically independent, not allowed to associate with political parties or donating to any political campaigns. They must accept the government's wage controls if it needs to reduce inflation without striking, striking must be for a general grievance, and sees striking as a political weapon as sedition.
Housing
TDRHism sees housing as a basic right to citizens and not as a financial asset. Therefore, he supports high regulations on the housing center.
- Banning foreigners who don't have a residence in the country they're present in from buying properties.
- Banning people from leaving properties vacant to ride a speculative wave and selling them at a higher price.
- Any vacant properties should be bought out by the government and let out.
- Individuals can have a maximum of three properties, with second and third homes being charged at a higher rate of LVT and LUT and required to let out any tenants when unoccupied. Only housing associations can own unlimited amounts of properties.
- Being a landlord shouldn't be a full-time job.
- Landlords/housing associations would be set rental controls by the local authorities, who also set the construction of houses and apartments.
- Supporting tenant association to protect tenant's rights against landlords.
- Prioritizing house builders to build houses for first-time home buyers.
Foreign trade and economic globalization
TDRHism's view on economic globalization is unflattering, as he views it as "too utopian" because of the fragility of supply chains and global finance. In addition, the offshoring of industry has led to the workers' union movement and manufacturing being killed, leading to lack of wage growth. However, he knows that countries can be economically self-sufficient and enjoy a comfortable standard of living, and attempts at an autarky had led to economic disasters.
He mainly supports low tariffs and free trade with countries that have similar labor and environmental and currency strength, while high tariffs towards poorer countries. While he does recognize that globalization benefited the third world, he still believes that the needs of the first world should come first.
Government
Overview
TDRHism's government system is a mixture of File:Technocracy.png Template:PCB and File:Dem.png Template:PCB. This is because he believes while the populace should get a voice in government, it should be slightly limited. He is also opposed to File:Pop.png Template:PCB, as he sees having populist leaders run a country as an equivalent to "having the children run the household instead of the parents" due him seeing it as dangerous to a country's democracy (ex. File:Cball-Hungary.png Hungary under File:FIDESZ.png Orban, the country is shifting towards illiberalism), politics (ex. the File:Cball-US.png United States under File:Trump.png Template:PCB, the political divide was worsened) and economy (ex. File:Chavismo.png Venezuela under File:Chavismo.png Template:PCB, the economy got screwed up and now it's in a crisis).
TDRHism prefers a File:Republicanismpix.png Template:PCB, however, if his system is under a File:Monarch.png Template:PCB, then he believes it should be purely File:Conmon.png Template:PCB, like in the File:Cball-UK.png UK and File:Cball-Norway.png File:Cball-Sweden.png File:Cball-Denmark.png Scandinavia. His system will be a semi-presidential one, like in File:Cball-France.png France, meaning that the File:Prez.png president and the File:Parl.png parliament have equal power.
How big/small?
Medium sized. Not too small, but not too big. This is because he feels too much government would lead to File:Sec.png Template:PCB (or in even worse cases, File:Totalitarian.png Template:PCB and very little state would lead to File:Awaj.png Template:PCB, both of which he opposes. So, he wants to combine the right amount of state and liberty to create an ideal society.
Executive Branch
The head of state would be the File:Prez.png Template:PCB, elected popularly by the people in a two-round voting system and can serve for two four-year terms. Their role is to uphold the constitution and safeguarding the nation against tyranny. In case they are caught in wrongdoing or are mentally ill, they can be impeached via a two-thirds majority in both legislatures. In case the president dies in office or is impeached, the vice president will serve as a replacement, also serving a maximum of two four-year terms alongside the president.
The head of government would be the prime minister, elected by the File:Parl.png lower legislature of congress and typically belonging to the largest party of the ruling coalition.
The cabinet would be comprised of secretaries, mainly from members of the ruling coalition. However, unlike most parliaments, like the Westminster variant, the secretary cannot be an MP at the same time, are usually outside experts in their field (ex. the secretary of finance being a businessman or an economist, the secretary of health being a doctor, the secretary of education being a teacher, the secretary of agriculture being a farmer and so on) and are elected for the entirety of their parliamentary term unless they either resign or lose control, with full scale cabinet shuffling not occuring.
Legislature
TDRHism's legislative branch would be a File:Parl.png bicameral parliament.
Upper House (Senate)
The upper house of the parliament would be the File:Senate.png Senate. Each state will have a total of 2 senators, and it will function like the File:Cball-Germany.png German Bundesrat. The 2 senators will be from the ruling party (or parties) of the states, elected for 8-year terms and half of them being elected into the House of Representatives.
It cannot initiate most legislation. However, it can only amend or delay for a maximum of one year bills coming from the HoR. It also confirms File:Krit.png supreme court justices by a two-thirds majority and has almost exclusive power over the operation, direction, and management of the civil service.
Lower House (House of Representatives)
The lower chamber would be known as the House of Representatives and it would be the more predominant chamber. It would elect the prime minister, instigate laws, have power to pass the budget, and would be comprised of members of File:Parti.png political parties. Elections would be held every four years, unless in situations where there have been more than three failed attempts to form a government and the house votes for a new election through a two-thirds majority. The house cannot simply vote against the government through a 'vote of no confidence', instead they have to propose a replacement government in a constructive 'vote of confidence'. Debates will be chaired by a non-political speaker, who is elected via a two-thirds majority, who would ensure civility in the House, with the seats being laid out in a Hemicycle arrangement as opposed to comformation. The number of seats is also determined by the state's population.
The system used to elect the House of Representatives is through Mixed-member proportional representation, but with the added feature of open lists for both constituency and regional elections.
Half of the MPs would be elected in single-member local constituencies using an open-list plurality system, where all parties have to stand three candidates each, and the party who has the largest vote share combined wins that seat.
The other half would be elected in 7-member regions using Open List Proportional Representation, where voters vote for a candidate on a party list to determine the order of priority for each seat that party wins, and allocated via the D'Hondt method, taking into account the number of constituency seats within that region that each party has won to ensure an overall proportional result. In order to gain a regional seat, a party must receive 5% of the vote nationally, and the ordering of the lists that are presented to voters could have a maximum gender imbalance of 2, since 7 is an odd number.
Congressional districts would be drawn up by the census bureau and the election board via population from the latest census.
Parties and Financing
TDRHism advocates for a democracy voucher system, where ordinary cash funds to campaigns would be banned, but every voter will be given a small voucher they can redeem on the electoral commission site to donate to a political party. This is to end File:Plutocrat.png corporate influence in politics.
Judicial Branch and Constitution
Supreme Court
The File:Krit.png supreme court would consist of nine justices, each one would have non-renewable, staggered 14-year terms with a new justice being appointed every 2 years. Their age range should be 45 to 65 and would be granted generous pensions.
Selecting the justices would be done by a system similar to the File:Cball-UK.png UK's Judicial Appointments Commission, that would appoint justices at all levels and would mainly appoint former justices. The justices would be separate from partisan politics. The nominee must be confirmed via a 50% or more majority in the House of Representatives and a two-thirds majority in the senate.
Constitution
The File:Consti.png constitution would mainly be the same as the U.S. one but easier to amend. It would summarize how the government would function and state rights.
Amendments to the Constitution
For most articles, a simple two-thirds majority both houses of parliament would be needed.
For changes to the electoral system, however, a File:Demarchy.png citizens' assembly, managed and overseen by a committee of MPs from all political parties in an equal amount, and confirmed by a simple majority in both houses of parliament, or a three-fifths majority of the HoR if the Senate downs it.
Civil Service
TDRHism respects the role of civil service, however still thinks that it's important that it doesn't become parasitic, unaccountable or managerial.
Like most countries, civil servants would be hired on a File:Merit.png meritocratic basis, however it would be more focused on individuals from File:Scientocracy Small.png STEM backgrounds. The organization that would hire them would be overseen by a civil service council, elected by the senate, and it would work like a File:Corp.png corporation's board of managers. There would also be a civil service efficiency commission, which would publish reports to the senate.
Anti-Corruption
TDRHism believes that any form of File:Klep icon.png corruption should be eradicated from all corners of the government, both national and local. He would empower an anti-corruption agency to have near-unlimited power to investigate any suspicions of corrupt activities. If found guilty, the person convicted would immediately be forced to resign and get prosecuted.
He believes that parliamentary immunity has outlived its purpose, only serving to shield the political class for crimes and corruption-based offenses. He would abolish it, meaning that all and every politician at government levels would be persecuted if they are caught with a corruption charge.
The ACA would introduce these measures:
- All tax returns in the nation, regardless of ordinary individuals, corporations and politicians, should be posted on a government website.
- All government officials should have their bank statements, medical records, employment history and everything under their ownership posted under their own website.
- People working in government cannot own profit-making financial assets of any kind.
- Currency would be purely digital.
- Government officials who report corrupt or rule-breaking actions from their colleagues would be financially rewarded.
- Lobbying groups would have to be civilly registered, with their access to politicians heavily restricted. Also a civil register for companies who receive government contracts.
- Total freedom of information for everything other than classified documents crucial to national security.
Federal or Unitary?
TDRHism prefers a File:Fed.png federal state, yet at the same time, he thinks that File:Unitary.png Template:PCB are more suitable for nations which are either very small, not populous, not very ethnically diverse, or all three.
Social Views
Overview
TDRHism is File:Cultcenter.png culturally syncretic, meaning his views on social issues can vary for the issue. He believes that File:SJW.png File:Ultraprogressivism.png any Template:PCB Template:PCB Template:PCB File:Reactcross.png File:Altr.png is bad.
